1972-06-18 Kwun Tong Sau Mau Ping landslide truck

Heavy rainstorms caused landslides and mudslides in most parts of Hong Kong, resulting in a large number of casualties. 1972-06-18, midday, a landslide buried a squatter village at the Sau Mau Ping licensed area, killing 71. The mud spilled over Tsui Ping Road into the Kwun Tong Resettlement Estate. Many of those killed were children. The persistence of the heavy rain during 16 to 18 June 1972 caused various tragedy, according to Final Report Of The Commission Of Inquiry into the Rainstorm Disasters 1972 by T L Yang, & Eric Cumine.
