1898-05-14 Prince Henry of Prussia Pao Ma Chan Peking

Although horse-racing in China were introduced by the British (in Macau), 1922-04-07 royal visit to a racecourse in China (Happy Valley) by the Prince of Wales was 20+ years later than the Russian blue-blood. 1898-05-14 Prince Henry of Prussia to the Peking Pao Ma Chang – 《New York Times》 reported that the races were attended on the second day of Annual Race Meeting by Prince Henry of Prussia, the first member of a European royal house to be received in Peking. On that occasion, the new British Minister, Sir Claude MacDonald, had three wins. The best performer was DIANA, owned by Baron von Delwig.
