HK Team cricketer, legislator, horse & stallion owner, founder of RTHK, chairman of Hutchison & Co and Mandarin Hotel.
1940-1941 The Hon, T E Pearce, JP, Chairman of HKJC, successfully negotiated with the Hong Kong Government for the purchase of the Club’s property at Beas River.
1941-12-19, the death of Pte. Pearce of HKVDC Hughes Group, was one of the Colony’s major war losses.
He was killed in action at North Point, where his unit (Reservists, under Major J. J. Paterson) was guarding the Electric Power Station.
Using a broken-down bus as cover, they were overwhelmed in the surprise Japanese landing, but fought it out in King’s Road.
