1870s Grandstand, Happy Valley Racecourse

Grandstand, Happy Valley Racecourse, c. 1870s, Spectator stands providing good vantage points are just essential for horse racing sport, basically for European. This multi-storey Grandstand was the major spectator facility until 1893. The wooden structure in darker color offered seats for watching the race and the ground floor was reserved for pari-mutuel betting entertainment. It was one of the best among other race courses in the Far East.
