Owner Mr Larry Yung bought MR VITALITY from a Yearling Sales in Australia and trianed by David Hayes who had not been practised in Hong Kong yet.


1995-01-01, as a 3-year-old, MR VITALITY won all 4 races including the 3rd one which is a Group I Chariman’s Prize.


I1995-11-11, the next racing season, in the Stewards’ Cup over 1600 metres, the first leg of the Triple Crown,he started to win with a time1:33.5.
It was just 0.2 second slower that the record holder CO_TACK.
Two weeks later, he won the Happy Valley Trophy, the first leg of the Champion Sprint Series.
He lost with a 4th Place in the International Race, the Hong Kong Cup due to the over distanced 1800 meter.


He got the Derby Trial of 1600meter but still could not break the barrier of the 1800 meter Derby and finished in a 9th Place disappointedly.
However he reclaimed the Centenary Cup and the Chairman’s Prize just 6 days after and became the first Triple Crown Winner.

He was elected to be the Horse of the Year in the 1995-1996 racing season as well.


1996-10-12, in his 3rd racing season, MR VITALITY won his first race carrying 135 Lb. He kicked and injured his leg inside the starting gate and withdrew in the Stewards Cup.


Losing his next race and injury was found which led to his downturn even after a rest of nearly four months.


Announced by His owner Mr Larry Yung, an luxury retirement was arranged and he was well accommodated in a castle in England thereafter.





The reputable and influential Racing Commentator Mr Tung Bill made a remark that the horse had best body build ever raced in Hong Kong.


The triangular combination of Macus, Allan and the HKJC Steward Mr Larry Yung’s energetic and competitive spirit had been a talk of the town in that era.





Note:Basil Marus had a fall thus led to his leave replaced by jockey Sullevan in the happy Valley Trophy.


This was the only one victory not ridden by Marcus among MR VITALITY‘s 14 winners in his racing career.
