The race went like clockwork, with DALIAPOUR nicely placed just behind the front runner.
He took the lead in the home turn to win by a length and three quarters from the classy ELA ATHENA.
His win made a total of twelve Group 1 wins for Johnny Murtagh and was his last for Sir Michael Stoute.
His return visit to Hong Kong for the Vase, where he would be defending the race he had won the previous year.
Described as a “tough test” for the horse in a strong International field the race was won by the Japanese-trained STAY GOLD, who got up to beat Godolphin’s EKRAAR.
DALIAPOUR only managing sixth place.

DALIAPOUR‘s merits are comparatively rare (in flat-racing circles) with elements of proven genuine toughness and endurance for racing at the highest level.
DALIAPOUR is a Blue-blood, with both SADLERS WELLS and DOYOUN in his pedigree giving him his looks as well as his speed and stamina.
He is also beautifully put together, with the balance to handle almost any track you care to put him on.
